1 c. butter, softened
1/2 c. brown sugar, packed
1/3 c. sugar
2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt
1 lg. egg yolk
2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1 (10 oz.) pkg. valentine chips such as nestle Toll House

Combine butter, sugars, vanilla, and salt in large bowl. Beat with electric mixer until creamy. Beat in egg yolk. Gradually beating flour until just blended. Stir in chips. Roll half other dough between two sheet soft wax paper until 1/4" thick. Repeat with remaining dough. Chill 30 minutes on trays in refrigerator. Preheat oven to 350°. Line two baking trays with parchment paper. Remove top layer of wax paper. Using a heart shaped cookie cutter, cut dough. Transfer hearts to baking sheets, keeping about 2" apart. Bake for 9-11 minutes until
golden brown. Let cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes; remove to wire rack and let cool completely. These can be decorated if desired.
Yield: 3 dozen.
