Chocolate Thumbprints recipe from Mountain View Country Market in Chuckey,TNChocolate Thumbprints

1 c. butter or margarine
1 1/3 c. sugar
2 eggs, separated
4 T. milk
pinch of salt
2 t. vanilla
2 c. flour
2/3 c. cocoa
2 c. chopped walnuts
chocolate Hershey's kisses

Filling:
1 c. powdered sugar
1 T. milk
2 T. margarine
1/2 t. vanilla

Cream together butter and sugar. Add eggs. Mix well. Add egg yolks, milk, salt, vanilla, flour and cocoa. Mix well. Chill dough one hour. Roll into balls. Beat egg whites lightly. Dip balls in egg whites, then in nuts. Place on sheet and press thumb in middle. Bake at 350° until done. Filling: Mix together. Spoon 1/4 teaspoonful filling on top of warm cookies (with a decorating bag works great) and press on a Hershey's Kiss. Note: Add some coloring or strawberry jam to filling to make it red or pink for a valentine look. Or put a raspberry on top of filling instead of kiss, and can drizzle melted chocolate on top of raspberries too and then refrigerate cookies.
